The Role
This has been a fantastic experience. I was given a variety of tasks with a good amount of responsibility.
Everyone in the office is very friendly and made me feel extremely welcome. I was often asked my opinion on initiatives the company was putting into operation, and also had the opportunity to head tasks.
My colleagues were always on hand to answer my questions, and offer advice on my tasks and they were happy to take me through my roles step by step.
I constantly had tasks to do. I often had several tasks on the go at one, which allowed me to vary my work throughout the day.
I was often put in a lead position on tasks concerning research and planning, however I did have to confirm things with my superiors before making final decisions. However I felt this was a good policy as it meant receiving instant feedback and gave me the confidence to work without worrying about making serious mistakes.
My internship has provided me with key skills, particularly in the field of communication, that I was unable to gain at university due to the nature of my degree.
The Company
Everyone was always up beat and the atmosphere was always very friendly.
My placement was well organised. The management team were all aware of my workload and were able to ensure that at no point was I overloaded with work, or left with nothing to dao.
The company was happy to teach me new skills and give me a good variety of tasks so that I could develop those skills. They were also keen for me to approach them with requests to develop specific skills which they were then able to do.
Company Parties/Events
As this is a small company, the prospect of gaining a full time position within the company is not high, but I am hope full. However that was never my aim. I saw saw this internship as a good way to gain valuable work experience.
The Culture
I had a number of enjoyable nights out with my work colleagues; going out for meals the evenings and eating out together on our lunch breaks.
I was able to stay with relatives, which I meant it was very cheap to live.
This is a very happening city, with a fantastic and varied night life.
As I am in a major city, there a massive number of opportunities for me do things outside of work.
